This grouping also mirrors how the body actually moves. Almost no exercise isolates a single muscle completely. A push-up, for example, relies mainly on the chest and triceps but also calls on the shoulders and core to keep the body rigid. The calf is formed by the gastrocnemius and soleus. 4. Hip Flexors and Adductors
